Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine summons a meeting to sum up outcomes of European integration activities in 2016

Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze chaired a meeting that gathered Deputy Ministers for European integration, the Head of the European Union delegation to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli, members of the Delegation and heads of EU technical assistance projects to Ukraine.

Summing up the year in terms of European integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze noted that unfortunately the results were not so positive as expected. However, for the first 9 month of 2016 trade flows between the EU and Ukraine have increased by 7.5%, while export of Ukrainian goods to the EU upped by 4.4%.The share of the EU in Ukrainian export is 37.7%.

A large amount of our commitments will be implemented through the adoption of draft laws which are pending in Parliament. The Government is doing everything possible to advocate for the abovementioned draft laws. We hope that the EU will actively participate in this process, noted Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.

Today's meeting was the first to launch regular, at least quarterly meetings with the Head of the European Union delegation to Ukraine. Hugues Mingarelli expressed hope for fruitful cooperation with Deputy Ministers for European integration as well as an effective coordinating role of the Government Office for European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The participants of the meeting agreed to determine common priorities for the near future.

Hugues Mingarelli highlighted that it’s not enough to adopt the necessary legislation – it is important to implement it. Speaking about the impact of the EU –Ukraine Association Agreement Mr. Mingarelli underlined that it contains a tool to change the life of every citizen of Ukraine. This is the economic part of the Agreement."We are here to help you and to ensure that you have all the necessary resources," stressed the Head of the European delegation to Ukraine.
