UN and Ukraine to formulate new Development Assistance Framework for Ukraine 2018 - 2022
The
Government of Ukraine together with the UN system and stakeholders, including
line ministries, Parliament, civil society, academia and development partners
took part in a Strategic Prioritization Retreat (SPR), aiming to relate the
comparative advantages of the UN system to specific national development
priorities and the 2030 sustainable development agenda.
The SPR
provides a forum for participants to review major challenges in Ukraine; agree
on priorities for the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) and joint
coordination mechanisms for the successful implementation of the UNDAF.
In their
opening remarks, H.E. Mr. Stepan Kubiv,
First Vice Prime-Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Economic Development and
Trade of Ukraine said: «Definition of strategic priorities of the Framework Programme of development between the UN and the Government
of Ukraine (UNDAF) 2018 – 2022 will reflect positive dynamics of the
development of Ukraine and its advantages in international relations, as well
as attract the attention of donors, investors and the public to Ukraine and to
its extreme capacity of development and growth. We are grateful to the UN for
supporting Ukraine and for facilitation of the restoration of peace and territorial
integrity of our country».
Neal
Walker, UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine: “Together with the Government and
civil society of Ukraine we will formulate an inspirational,
results focused strategy 2018-22 to bring positive change in Ukraine. Together,
we will articulate the results we expect to achieve that positively impact
people’s lives. To do that, together with stakeholders, we’ll define outcomes,
i.e., the changes we envision, and we identify the indicators we will use to
measure progress”.
The United
Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) is the strategic development
assistance framework that describes collective, coherent and integrated
programming and monitoring response of the UN system to national development
priorities and the 2030 sustainable development agenda. The new UNDAF for
Ukraine will cover the 2018-2022 period.
