On November 9, Vice Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion met with members of foreign diplomatic missions and international financial institutions in Ukraine to tackle issues of reforming the NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine.
Participating in the meeting were EBRD Country Director for Ukraine Sevki Acuner, Deputy Head of the EU delegation to Ukraine Thomas Frellesen, Counselor for Economic Affairs Embassy of the USA in Ukraine William Laitinen, experts in gas issues of the World Bank and Energy Community Secretariat, representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine and of the EU delegation in Ukraine.
During the event
Volodymyr Kistion informed about results of the work of the
Cabinet to accelerate the Naftogaz of Ukraine restructuring. In particular, he
noted that at its recent session the Government had adopted a decision to
establish a new independent GTS operator of Ukraine – Joint Stock
Company Main Gas Pipelines of Ukraine. Apart from that there were endorsed changes to the Unbundling Plan of
PJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine. The Vice Prime Minister drew attention of the
international partners to the need to prolong the substantive dialogue and
coordinate the positions and, as a result, adopt effective solutions.
Representatives
of international organizations highly appreciated concrete achievements of the
Ukrainian Government in implementing reforms in the energy sector. They also
assured the Ukrainian side in readiness to continue constructive cooperation.
