Volodymyr Groysman: Gov't is considering an increase in nuclear power production

The Government is exploring the possibility to enhance nuclear electricity in the balance of the generated power and making efforts to increase capacities. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman declared during A Question Time at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Friday.

"We are considering an increase in nuclear power production. Of course, we intend to boost capacities, put in operation new facilities", said Volodymyr Groysman.

The Prime Minister noted that over the past few months the Government had done a solid job. According to him, nowadays a daily share in nuclear electricity production makes up 59%, against 46-52 % in the previous period.

"Such activity [the improvement of performance of the atomic power industry] is conducted by the Government systematically, and it fully complies with our strategy”, said the PM, adding that an energy independence issue is topmost for the Government.
