The Government is
making every effort to ensure boost of the economy and meet the challenge of
economic aggression, Ukraine is currently suffering from. The Prime Minister of
Ukraine Volodymyr
Groysman announced during the
Kyiv International Economic Forum on Thursday.
"The
Government will do its utmost to promote our national product with added value,
to ensure its competitiveness, so that we could respond to the challenge of
that economic aggression, Ukraine is currently facing”, stressed Volodymyr Groysman.
Thus, the main
task for the Government to address is to trigger economic growth. The
Government determined a number of priorities and measures necessary to achieve
this objective, the Prime Minister said. In particular, in the near future
there will be created several mechanisms aimed at improving the business
climate in the country.
Therefore, the
Government is to present an Investment Support Office that must become the
"entry point" for any investment. The Office will accompany major projects
first, said Volodymyr
Groysman.
"It’s
neither the amount of investment we need nor definite
sum - we just need investment to be successful. I would really like that anyone
who intends to invest in Ukraine, could invest and get result. This success
will be reinvested in our country", he said.
The Prime
Minister assured that he seeks to eradicate any pressure from regulatory bodies
on business in Ukraine. According to him, investors, entrepreneurs demand a
complete understanding of the rules, assurance that the state will not change
the rules and an opportunity to predict the development in the medium and long
run.
"I want you
to smoothly pass through customs clearance procedures, not to have problem with
the VAT refund, to deprive you of visits of controllers who are trying to
create obstacles for the development of your business. I want you could create
workplaces, a competitive domestic product. I want to help you demonstrate good
performance in the world markets. And the whole machinery of the state should
be focused on that, including our diplomatic missions - all must work for
Ukrainian business, the Ukrainian national product", emphasized the Prime
Minister appealing to the entrepreneurs.
Also this month is due to be established a National Committee for Ukrainian industry restoration.
Volodymyr
Groysman said that Ukrainian
industry has great potential for growth. In this context, in his opinion, the
essential objective for the Government is to address chronic problems of the
sector and create the environment for the Ukrainian industry to fully utilize
its potential.
According to the
PM, here it is vital to explore new markets and create new mechanisms of
presence in the world markets for Ukrainian products that should be innovative.
The above instruments
envisaged by the Government will pave the way for accelerating economic growth,
said Volodymyr Groysman.
The Prime
Minister also focused on the national science issues and highlighted that the
achievements of Ukrainian science should be of practical significance for the
economy. "We must encourage creating our national research product that
may be the driving force for the economy and solve a lot of current
problems", he stressed.
In Ukraine it is crucial to break the old system that artificially generated factors preventing the development of the country, believes the Prime Minister. Among them are commodity economy, oligarchic governance model, high corruption, poor judiciary, abusive activity of the state apparatus, which makes it impossible to fully disclose the potential of the Ukrainian businesses and to create conditions for investment flows. The Head of Government singled out honest privatization as a priority as well.
"Our task is
to create a favourable climate that will enable us to
encourage investment, hold public privatization, attract both internal and
external resources”, declared Volodymyr Groysman. “Our goal is to shape a real,
open, high-quality public policies that will allow us to ensure sustainable
economic growth, and therefore we can invest resources into the quality of life
of Ukrainian citizens."
The Prime
Minister expressed confidence that current Ukraine’s resources, such as human
capital, natural resources, geographical location, and scientific solutions,
make it possible to ensure progress of the country.
"I deeply
believe that Ukraine being home to 45 million people is a country in the
central Europe that has unsurpassed potential and must necessarily be
successful", summed up Volodymyr Groysman.
