Among the variants to improve the system of subsidies, the Government is considering the monetization of savings from subsidies. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko announced on air of the NewsOne TV channel.

"The subsidy is absolutely targeted – it means payment for gas and housing and communal services. But we must make sure that the funds are used just for these appropriate purposes. Unfortunately, because of the full monetization of the subsidies we cannot achieve this goal 100%", he explained.

"As one of the options to improve the system of subsidies, and I think it will be introduced, is the monetization of savings from subsidies. When a person economizes on the consumption of gas, electricity, in end of the heating season there will appear positive delta and we are working hard to ensure that this positive delta would be monetized", said Pavlo Rozenko.

He also noted that the previous year the average amount of subsidies had made up UAH 1400. "Last year, the average subsidy was approximately 1400 hryvnias. This means that each family that receives a subsidy, on average, received a monthly sum worth 1400 hryvnias as compensation of the price of gas".
