Vice Prime Minister: To launch Energy Efficiency Fund it is vital to approve key laws

The Energy Efficiency Fund aims to improve the quality of life of Ukrainian citizens. First, it was designed to cut inordinate expenses for energy use for the citizens. Secondly, to improve the quality of public services. Thirdly, to increase the value of housing objects at the account of insulation in line with European standards. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister/ Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Hennadii Zubko in an interview with The New Time.

According to him, it is necessary to adopt 10 acts to trigger operation of the Fund. "The Government has approved the Fund’s concept and the act on energy efficiency of buildings as the basic law. Next in line will be laws on investment activities, commercial accounting, etc. that must together create an ecosystem of the energy efficiency reform of the country", said Hennadii Zubko.

Moreover, the Government official noted the state invest in energy efficiency around UAH 700-800 mln annually. "Last year there were issued loans to the tune of UAH 300 million. International partners are ready to add another EUR 200 million annually to compensate to citizens on condition efficiency and transparency of operation of the Fund are provided", summed up the Vice Prime Minister.
