Emine Dzhaparova: It is important to have a Day of resistance at which the Crimea topic will be on the top of information discourse
On 12
July 2016, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr
Groysman signed the draft decree
of the President
of Ukraine "On the
Day of the
Crimeans' resistance to the Russian
occupation", formerly
supported by the Government, with the purpose
of honoring the patriotism and courage of
the Crimean inhabitants in the fight against
the aggression of the Russian
Federation.
Adoption of
the draft decree "On the Day of
the Crimeans' resistance to the
Russian occupation" will introduce a day of 26 February
in the official
calendar of events and will
become another reason for the
wide media coverage of the
Crimean topic in Ukraine and
abroad.
Emine Dzhaparova,
Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine,
said that the MIP has initiated
this process last year.
"The day
of 26 February 2016 passed under the
sign of the
resistance. This MIP initiative was widely supported by the public,
journalists, human rights defenders working with the
Crimean issues, as well as
of the Majlis
of the Crimean
Tatar people, on the call
of which 26 February 2014 thousands of the Crimean
Tatars and Ukrainians did not allow the
Crimean Parliament to vote for
a separatist decisions. In addition, the
day of 20 February, which is considered as
the day of
the beginning of peninsula occupation
is celebrated as the Heavenly
Hundred Remembrance Day. I think it
is important to have the
Day of resistance,
at which the Crimea topic
will be on
top of informational
discourse," said Dzhaparova.
Notice: MIP initiative was supported by the Crimean activists, journalists, human rights defenders. For a few months before the day of 26 February 2016, MIP held a series of meetings with representatives of the public and the Crimean settlers. These meetings resulted in a series of informational and educational activities on the occasion of the second anniversary of the occupation and the Day of resistance, in particular, the International forum, TV marathons, flash mobs, educational events in universities and schools and the like.
