"This draft is the result of the discussion which took place during the round-table conference dedicated to the preservation and securing of specialty “сommunication” to the “List of Sciences and Specialties within which Higher Education is Provided” approved by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Representatives of the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine, heads of relevant departments of the main universities of Ukraine, representatives of agencies specialized in the sphere of mass communications took part in the discussion.

Participants of the conference have also discussed possible ways of implementation of specialty “Communication” as an independent field of knowledge.

In particular, Sergii Danylenko, acting head of the Department of International Media Communication and Communication Technologies of the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv noticed that the adjustment of the regulatory framework which regulates the “List of Sciences and Specialties within which Higher Education is Provided” is taking place right now.

“Taking into account the challenges which Ukraine is faced with in the struggle for national unity and authority on the international stage and against information aggression, our country is seeking for scientific and practical developments at all levels of communications. Hence, communication sciences must be carried out as an independent field of knowledge, for example, as “Communication Science” that would include the following specialties: “Journalism and Media Communications”, “Government (Public) Communications”, “Marketing Communications”, “International Communications”. It is one of the possible ways for the development of the field of knowledge that were discussed by experts”, - highlighted Danylenko

During the discussion, more than ten different formulations and proposals related to the specialties which should constitute the field of knowledge were put forward. The Ministry of information policy will summarize these proposals and after analysis of lawyers, will be submitted to the Ministry of education and science and, later, to the Government.
