  • Volodymyr Groysman: Gov't to set up road fund and carry out decentralization in road maintenance management

    The Government is working on setting up a road fund, carrying out decentralization of management of the road network and ensuring repair that enables Ukraine to restore its road facilities. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stated this during participation in the events on the occasion of Europe Day in Vinnytsia, on Saturday.

    "The Cabinet of Ministers is working in order to create a separate road fund within the State Budget of Ukraine, which will accumulate resources," said Volodymyr Groysman, noting that a relevant decision may be taken jointly with the Parliament in September.

    In addition, the Government will trust state local roads to regional state administrations. "We will decentralize the management of Ukrainian roads. Kyiv will delegate authority in respect of the management of state local roads to the local level, regional administrations that will manage the process. Then we provide them with funds and resources. In 2-3 years you will see that the situation with road facilities to be completely different and better," noted Volodymyr Groysman.
