The conversation
was focused on the reform process in Ukraine and first responsible steps of the
newly formed Government.
Vice President
Joe Biden praised the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers to establish a
single gas price and assessed it as an evidence of the determination of the
Government to combat corruption in the energy sector.
The two sides
also exchanged views on cooperation between Ukraine and the International
Monetary Fund. Volodymyr
Groysman expressed hope for a successful outcome of the
negotiations with the IMF Mission, which is currently in Kyiv.
The U.S. Vice
President also welcomed the decision of the Verkhovna
Rada of Ukraine on the appointment of a Prosecutor
General. He
stressed the need to further strengthen the rule of law in Ukraine by reforming
the justice system in general and the prosecution system in particular.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine accepted the invitation of Vice President Joe Biden to visit the United States in June this year.
