On Thursday, April 21, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman met with Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn. The parties discussed in detail the areas of bilateral cooperation.

The Prime Minister said that last week Ukraine saw the formation of a new Cabinet of Ministers, as well as the creation for the first time of the post of Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, occupied by Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze.

Also, the Government has established a team of international advisers led by Slovakia’s former Deputy Prime Minister and former Finance Minister Ivan Miklos with the participation of former Deputy Prime Minister of Poland Leszek Balcerowicz, noted Volodymyr Groysman.

The Cabinet of Ministers is fully committed to the course of reforms in the country, deepening cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and the implementation of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement, emphasized Volodymyr Groysman.

The Government is working now on developing an operational plan, which will be formed within one month. Among the top priorities of its activity - Ukrainian customs reform, public administration reform, tax and judicial reforms as well as strengthening cooperation with the Parliament.

The Prime Minister informed that on the eve of the first meeting of the Government, which adopted a number of important decisions, including the provision of premises for the National Agency for Corruption Prevention, appointment of heads of Ukrzaliznytsia and Ukrposhta, introduction of key bills to the Parliament. "Yesterday the Cabinet of Ministers demonstrated the ability to take the necessary decisions," noted the Head of Government.

Volodymyr Groysman noted that Ukraine would need the European Union’s support in carrying out reform priorities, in particular, in the field of public administration. The parties discussed in detail the opportunities and prospects of cooperation in carrying out the necessary changes in this area.

The Commissioner welcomed the Ukrainian side of the formation of a new Government in Ukraine and praised the commitment of the Cabinet of Ministers "to breathe new energy" in pursuing reforms and implementation of Ukraine's international commitments under the agreements with the IMF and the EU.

In his turn, the European Union remains committed to supporting Ukraine, assured the Commissioner.

"Now is a very good moment for Ukraine. The European family shows a general positive attitude to Ukraine. We should not waste time," he pointed out, recalling about the EU-Ukraine summit, scheduled for May.
