The Monitoring mission of the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine, as part of its work in ATO zone, held a meeting in Mariupol branch of the Union of journalists of Ukraine to make analysis of the state of the Ukrainian broadcasting in the region.
During the visit a lack of citizens’ access to the radio programs of the "Radio of Priazovya" was revealed. Radio of Pryazovya was one of the main sources of local news, and was preparing stories for the Ukrainian radio, and also was airing programmes about the life of national minorities. The main problem of the suspension of broadcasting is the lack of budgeting.
According to the Secretary of the Donetsk regional organization of the Union of journalists of Ukraine Viktor Grammatikov the "Radio of Priazovya", which is aired within the broadcast of the Ukrainian radio and is available to every resident of Mariupol and is very popular among the local community, suddenly ceased to broadcast these programs via wired radio.
"We can't stay aside in this situation. The broadcasting is the key to unite the nation around common goals to make the country of our dreams. It is time to sound the alarm when the broadcaster ceases its activity, the broadcaster who was the main informant of the population, was the voice of the state. The Ministry of information policy of Ukraine, in the framework of its powers, at the Commission’ meeting will raise this question and will find the necessary solutions to resume broadcasting of the "Radio of Priazovya", - stressed from ATO zone Advisor to the Minister on ensuring TV and Radio broadcasting Oleksandr Brygynets.
During the meeting with representatives of the Mariupol branch of the Union of journalists of Ukraine was found the option of resuming the broadcasting – the "Radio of Priazovya" will be given airtime of the "Voice of Donbas", which is expected to be launched in Mariupol this spring. This subject will be discussed and necessary decisions will be taken at the next meeting of the Commission on ensuring stable operation on national television and radio broadcasting under the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine.
Recall that the Monitoring mission of MIP is constantly in ATO area, the aim of which is to study and reintegrate the information space of the east of the country. According to the results, every week, at the meeting of the Commission under MIP the appropriate decisions are made due to the collected information about the towns and villages in ATO zone. BRT Concern installs the transmitting equipment on places and, accordingly, the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine provides the frequencies for the broadcasting of certain TV channels pursuant to the decisions.
