
EU to support Ukraine in implementing Strategy of Agriculture Development
As Oleksii Pavlenko, the Minister of
Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, stressed during a meeting with
representatives of the EU in Ukraine, the European Union and the international
partners were ready to provide comprehensive support to the Ministry of
Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine in the implementation of the Unified
Comprehensive Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development in Ukraine for
2020.
“Our European partners have appreciated the results of
joint work of Ukraine and the international partners, which resulted in the
development of the strategy. The next phase of the cooperation would be the
implementation of the joint project with the EU “Support to agricultural and
food policy implementation”, the Minister stressed.
The fulfillment of the project launched on February 1st,
2016.
The main goal of the project is strengthening
of the Ministry’s of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine potential in the
implementation of the Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development under the
commitment taken by Ukraine in the framework of the Association Agreement and
Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.
According to the Minister, the strategy is an
effective road map to reform the agricultural sector of Ukraine. The strategy
outlines the top priorities and long-term measures and expected results,
including a detailed action plan. The main goal of the project is the improved
competitiveness of Ukrainian agriculture and promoting of rural areas
development based on the EU and international standards.
