Ukraine initiates
creation of an Energy Efficiency Fund in 2016 and invites the Government of
Sweden to join it.
This was stated
by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Regional Development, Construction,
Housing and Utilities Hennadii Zubko
during a meeting with Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation
Isabella Lövin.
The official
stressed that Ukraine was interested in the introduction of modern technologies
that would enable to save, reduce consumption, and eventually replace natural
gas with alternative fuels.
In her turn, Isabella
Lövin appreciated carrying out reforms in
Ukraine, particularly in the energy area.
Hennadii Zubko also reminded that the German Government had already
expressed its interest in participating in the Energy Efficiency Fund and had become
involved in the development of its model.
"The energy efficiency
market of Ukraine makes up about EUR 55 billion. We
are establishing transparent and clear conditions for the arrival and activity
of investors in the energy efficiency area," the Vice Prime Minister of
Ukraine noted.
The Vice Prime
Minister of Ukraine recalled that laws on energy service companies, specifics
of ownership of an apartment building aimed at providing conditions for market
efficiency had been already adopted. The
next step would be the adoption of laws on public utilities and commercial
accounting, as well as energy efficiency of buildings.
