The Prime
Minister of Ukraine instructed the State Financial Inspection to submit an account
on the activities of the key state-owned companies to the Government and
appealed to the law enforcement agencies to open criminal proceedings against
all identified offenses. He
said this at a government meeting on Wednesday, 18 November.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that today's session of the Government would
review the performance of 100 key state-owned companies.
He recalled that he
had told to check the activities of over 20 key state-owned companies "beginning
from the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine, Centrenergo,
Ukrenergo, Ukrgasvydobuvannia,
Ukraerorukh, sea ports and finishing with the power
companies, Electrotyazhmash, Ukrhimtransamiiak,
etc."
The Prime
Minister ordered the State Financial Inspection, which will be transformed into
the State Audit one, "together with the National Police, the Security
Service of Ukraine and tax police to investigate all the facts disclosed in the
media, to find out all the circumstances of the activities of these state-owned
enterprises and to submit an account for
consideration to the Cabinet of Ministers."
"I appeal to
the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine to initiate criminal proceedings for
each of the offences,
if such facts are proven," underlined Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
The Prime Minister
also said that Ukraine's Parliament once again failed to support the proposal
of the Cabinet of Ministers on holding fair, transparent and competitive
privatization: "This bill was five or six times at the Verkhovna
Rada of Ukraine, and is constantly being rejected."
"We are looking forward to a positive decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the introduction of competitive, transparent and fair conditions of privatization," added Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
