On September 14, during his visit to Brussels, Minister of Infrastructure Andrii Pyvovarsky held a bilateral meeting with European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.
At the meeting the parties discussed providing technical assistance to Ukraine by the European Union. In particular, the Minister expressed hope that the new technical assistance project titled Support to the Implementation of the Association Agreement and of the National Strategy in the Transport Sector in Ukraine would start before the end of year. Also, Andrii Pyvovarsky stressed the applicability and effectiveness of the Twinning project Performance and the Competitiveness of Rail Transport in Ukraine: "We are getting to the end of the first stage of the project implementation and has approved the second stage. It is crucial for us to launch the final stage as soon as possible".
Apart from that, Andrii Pyvovarsky and Johannes Hahn discussed the further implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region aimed to boost the development of the region and overall use of its transport capacity.
During the meeting peculiar attention was paid to the need of signing in the near future the European Common Aviation Area Agreement. Commissioner Johannes Hahn assured the Minister that the European Commission is taking all possible measures to complete this process asap.
