Arseniy Yatsenyuk: State Traffic Inspectorate fades into oblivion

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that in terms of the reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine the Government has approved a decision at an urgent meeting, according to which "the word State Traffic Inspectorate has been excluded from all government decrees": "This body is going into oblivion," he stated this at an enlarged board meeting of the Interior Ministry on Friday, 10 July.

According to him, the State Traffic Inspectorate will operate only in those areas that don’t have patrol police: "It is very important to accelerate pace, to find budget resources and move across all cities and villages in order to create a new patrol police."

He also addressed Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov and First Deputy Minister Eka Zguladze: "You have done a great job by creating patrol police. This is something that people are able to immediately feel. We can talk a lot about reform, adopt hundreds of laws, change the tax system, budget code, but it's difficult for people to feel this. You’ve made this step. "

At the same time, he emphasized, patrol police "do not have to be engaged in breaking up spontaneous trade ": "It is not the function of patrol police. Not for that we trained these young people. Patrol police should perform a key function - protection and safety of citizens. And if the mayor wants to address the issue of spontaneous trade - this is for what his has been chosen, let the relevant bodies deal with these issues. "
