Arseniy Yatsenyuk: Financing national security to be No. 1 issue

"The issue of national security today is the number one. Thus, funding of national security is the number one as well," Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized at a board meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on Friday, July 10.

He underlined that plans as to upgrading and purchasing equipment for the National Guard of Ukraine are to be fulfilled till the end of the year.

The Head of Government informed that he held meetings with all the law enforcement agencies on the disbursement of funds. The total budget request of all the law enforcement agencies and the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the end of this year, according to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, is worth  UAH17.5 billion, which we lack: "Having re-counted together with the Minister of Finance of Ukraine and heads of law enforcement agencies, we agreed to the sum of UAH5.5 billion."

"I have to appeal publicly to all spending units: let cut down expenses. This means that if we fund the army, then some of the non-core expenditures of different ministries should be re-distributed and transferred to the Defense Ministry, National Guard, Interior Ministry, Emergency Service and border guards, " Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed.
