Prime Minister: All tariffs that are set by the NCSEPUR should be audited by the four largest international companies
“All tariffs that are set by the National
Commission for State Energy and Public Utilities Regulation, I emphasize, this
is not by the Government, but by an independent body should be audited by the
four largest international companies,” Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy
Yatsenyuk emphasized during An Hour of Questions to the Government in the
Verkhovna Rada.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed that he held a
meeting yesterday with the National Commission for State Energy and Public
Utilities Regulation, NJSC “Naftogaz Ukraine”, "Ukrgazvydobuvannya".
The Prime Minister also stressed that he had
referred to the NCSEPUR for six months on installation of metering devices:
“The body that sets the connection mechanism, sets tariffs and defines the
rules at the energy market, it is NOT the Cabinet of Ministers. It is an
independent body - the National Commission for State Energy and Public
Utilities Regulation.”
As a result of the situation, he said, citizens
pay the extra connection means, including to private power companies. In
addition, we have that
Arseniy Yatsenyuk recalled that he had
instructed the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine to introduce new
rules of connection, because the current rules “have only one purpose –
monopoly at the regional power market, which take money out of business and
people, and destroys Ukrainian perspectives.”
The Prime Minister also noted that the
installation of metering devices is a direct obligation of each energy company.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk also appealed to members of
Parliament to pass a law on the National Commission for State Energy and Public
Utilities Regulation next week: “Establish an independent from politicians, the
Government, the President and the Parliament body that will be transparent,
honest, professional and efficient to set tariffs and to take responsibility
for their formation.”
