Arseniy Yatsenyuk supports complete abolition of parliamentary and judge immunity
"We are expecting
the Parliament to introduce the new indemnity mechanism by 300 votes and
thereby abolish the full immunity of MPs as well as the judiciary," Prime
Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk
at a meeting of the Constitutional Commission on Monday, April 6.
He reminded that the
Parliament of Ukraine had already submitted a corresponding act to the Constitutional
Court.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk also recalled that the current Constitution,
according to the findings of international experts, was exemplary in terms of
the main provisions concerning the rights and freedoms of man and citizen,
"Now it is necessary to provide exemplary implementation of everything written
in the current Constitution of Ukraine, as well as in a new Constitution of
Ukraine, which must be approved by the people of Ukraine."
"This will
be a document that will determine which country Ukraine will be in the future. Ukraine
will be a successful model of European democracy," the Prime Minister said.
