PM: Neither Moscow nor anyone else has a right to tell us what kind of Constitution we should have

A new Basic law should reflect the interests of the entire country “from west to east," said Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk during a meeting of the Constitutional Commission on Monday, April 6.

"When talking about our dialogue with the East, it implies a dialogue exceptionally with the legitimately elected representatives of eastern part of the country, never with Russian mobsters and terrorists," urged Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

"We expect from Russia abiding by the Minsk agreements and conducting fair and transparent local elections that meet the standards of the OSCE and ODIHR (OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights - ed.), to ensure that an inclusive dialogue to prepare amendments to the Constitution gathers representatives of the entire country", stressed the Head of the Ukrainian Government.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk accentuated the basic law would be written by “the Ukrainian President, the Ukrainian Constitutional Commission, the Ukrainian Parliament that needs a firm constitutional majority of over 300 votes to support the Constitution and Ukrainian people”.

“Neither Moscow nor anyone else will have a right to tell us what kind of Constitution we should have. It is our country and our Constitution,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed.
