PM says on February 9 EU mission arrives to Ukraine to assess the implementation of the second stage of visa regime liberalization

On February 9 an EU mission will arrive to Ukraine in order to assess Ukraine’s implementation of obligations of the second stage of liberalization of the visa regime with the EU. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed about this at a briefing after the meeting with Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico and the negotiations of the government delegations of Ukraine and Slovakia on Friday, February 6.

He said that in the framework of the intergovernmental negotiations were signed a number of agreements aimed at facilitating border traffic between Ukraine and Slovakia.

However, the PM noted that border traffic between the two countries "will be simplified entirely, when Ukraine receives a visa-free regime with member states of the European Union."

He also said that during his meeting with Robert Fico they also discussed the issues of trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Slovakia.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed the importance of technical assistance provided by the Government of Slovakia for Ukraine to help reform the tax system, the pension system "and suggest the best way to move in the privatization of state property, because Slovakia managed to succeed in this."

In the framework of the negotiations of the governmental delegations of Ukraine and the Slovak Republic, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Shulmeister and Economy Minister of Slovakia Pavol Pavlis signed a Protocol on amendments and supplements to the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Slovak Republic on Border Crossings Located Along the Common State Frontier. Chairman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko and Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcak signed a document to amend and supplement the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Slovak Republic on rail transportation across the state border of June 15, 1995.
