A. Abromavicius and P. Balazs discuss reforms in Ukraine and implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU

Preparation for the donor conference, the future actions of the Ukrainian Government to reform the country and measures to implement the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU were the main topics of a discussion at the meeting of Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine of Aivaras of Abromavicius with the head of the Support Group for Ukraine Péter Balázs and Director General for Enlargement at the European Commission Christian Danielsson on February 3.

On commenting what has been done and the action plan for the near future, the Minister stressed, in the process of preparation for the conference the most important is to determine out of hundreds of priorities the pressing directions. Aivaras Abromavicius added it proved necessary to accelerate reforms in the country, and regarding implementation of the provisions of the Association Agreement he expressed the need to coordinate actions.

"A significant share of our success in the integration process depends on the implementation of the European standards. Technical regulations, for instance, have already went through the Parliament without any problems. We are trying to invent creative solutions to speed up the processes," the Minister said.

During the meeting it was also stressed that the action plan, which had been submitted to the President, contains all the information on measures to implement the Association Agreement systematized and divided into two parts: what has been done and what has failed to be executed. In addition, there have been determined critical issues that are to be solved in the next three months.
