Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev
On Monday, December
22, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with President of the
Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, who is paying a visit to Ukraine.
The Head of Ukrainian
Government stressed the importance of the visit of the President of Kazakhstan to
Ukraine to ensure further development of relations between the two countries.
He focused on two principal
lines for cooperation between Ukraine and Kazakhstan - trade and energy, "These
are [areas] where we can and must succeed."
"I am convinced
that our bilateral cooperation should just enhance as presently the figures leave
much to be desired. But if we take correct and clear decisions how to increase
the volumes of our bilateral trade, it will just be advantageous for both
Kazakhstan and Ukraine", said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
Moreover, the PM
reminded that Kazakhstan, like Ukraine, was a signatory to the Budapest
memorandum, “I believe that we will pass all the tests. Ukraine will go through
the ordeals connected with infringement of the territorial integrity. I believe
that Kazakhstan will never gain the experience of the Budapest Memorandum, Ukraine
had gained”.
"You have made the same
step as we made. You are a strong, great and independent country. And the fact
that we support each other in our territorial integrity and independence is of
extreme importance for our two countries," said Prime Minister of Ukraine.
