Arseniy Yatsenyuk: Gov't allocates UAH 300 million to support the areas of Donbas, being under control by the Ukrainian authorities

The Ukrainian Government announced about allocation of UAH 300 million for the restoration of the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, being under control by the Ukrainian authorities, as well as for the assistance for those who moved from the rebel-controlled territories. This was informed by the PM of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at the Cabinet’s meeting on Wednesday, November 12.

The Head of Government stressed that a large number of residents from the rebel-held areas were moving to the controlled by Ukraine’s government territory, "We need funds to rebuild the infrastructure, to renew schools and hospitals and to help the people who were forced to leave the areas ruled by Russian-led terrorists."

 Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructed Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman to approve the relevant lists and together with the Ministry of Economy to start funding those areas of Donbas, which are fully controlled by Ukrainian authorities.

The Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Liudmyla Denisova reported that currently the register contains 159 881 displaced persons, that is 91 thousand families.

 85 thousand families out of the number have applied for the state aid. "The reimbursement has already been assigned for 66 thousand families, UAH 50 million have already been funded and transferred to the cards of those listed. The process is on, and we manage to provide everything the displaced persons need in order to ensure payment of such assistance," said the Minister.

 Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to international organizations, in particular the OSCE and the Red Cross mission with a request to help with deliveries of Ukrainian humanitarian aid to the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, "We have repeatedly tried to send humanitarian aid to the territory, controlled by Russian-led terrorists, but they just do not let the humanitarian aid through".

 "If we send money there, it will be taken by Russia-backed terrorists at gun point", he stressed.

"The Government has allocated funds, we possess each necessary resource to provide people with water, food and to cover just the minimum needs. We are asking the international organizations to help to ensure access for humanitarian assistance to the areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, to the people who have become hostages to Russian terrorists, to provide an opportunity for these people to survive," explained the Head of Government.
