PM: Government to approve additional list of facilities subject to mandatory protection by National Guard

The Government of Ukraine will adopt a resolution on the additional list of facilities subject to mandatory protection by the subunits of the National Guard of Ukraine, "These are strategic targets, first of all, energy facilities," Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, November 12.

The Prime Minister has instructed Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov to send specially trained subunits for protecting these facilities.

The Interior Minister has reported that the build-up of subversive activities in the area close to the anti-terrorist operation as well as increased activity of the militants caused increased protection of the state objects of special significance, especially gas pipelines, water pipelines and energy facilities, “A special control regime has been adopted, and the National Guard has taken appropriate steps."

Arsen Avakov has also informed that in the coming days the National Guard’s subunits will receive new types of weapons, including binary charges for grenade launchers and new sniper systems of 12,7 caliber.

He has reported that joint police detachments and battalions of special purpose of the MIA are securing first and second resistance lines as well as directly line of military clashes "to enhance control and to fight against subversive groups of militants."
