PM invites Poroshenko Bloc, Batkivschyna, Samopomich and Radical Party to public talks on coalition formation
Prime Minister of
Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has declared the basic principles of the formation of
a new pro-European Government as well as a new reformative European majority in
the Parliament, able to carry out urgent reforms, the PM said this at a press
conference at the Government House on Wednesday, 29 October.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
has informed that the parallel vote counting is completed: "The People's
Front Party, which got the first place in the parliamentary elections, must start
the process of forming a coalition."
He proposed to
call a new coalition "European Ukraine": "Because it is for what
the people stood on the Maidan and what they are expecting from us: the implementation
of the agreement between Ukraine and the European Union and the formation of Ukraine
as a European country."
The proposed text
of an agreement, said Arseniy Yatsenyuk, is two and a half pages long– “it is clear,
simple and effective.” In addition to the text of the proposed agreement the PM
suggested regulations - "the functioning of the coalition": "We’ve
prepared the main thing - what to do."
The Prime
Minister demonstrated the coalition agreements of the previous years: "Although
there is a heap of pages, in the best case was implemented only 10%. So I would
like to avoid hiding real intentions under the amount of pages."
The basis for the
formation of a new coalition, according to the PM, is an action plan for the
implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European
Union, which is already approved by this Government.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
said that the Government has prepared and published bills that should be
adopted in the Verkhovna Rada. According to him, over 30 bills have been worked
out, and some have been submitted to the Parliament, others must be agreed by a
new coalition and approved by the end of this year: "I appeal to the
political parties that will participate in the coalition to submit their amendments
to the texts of these laws to immediately adopt them by a new Parliament."
“I appeal especially
to the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko, because I believe the President personally and
the Poroshenko Bloc to be a major strategic partner in the implementation of changes
in the country. The country's fate is the responsibility of the President and
the party that got the first place in these elections. I also consider it necessary
to invite Batkivschyna
All-Ukrainian Union, Samopomich Party and Oleh Liashko's Radical Party to
public talks on the formation of a parliamentary coalition,” he stressed.
"We offer a clear,
simple and effective coalition agreement that is two and a half pages long. The
name of the coalition is "European Ukraine". We also offer simple rules
involving two pages - how decisions are made in the coalition. We have prepared
all the laws and all decisions necessary for Ukraine and that must be adopted
by a new composition of the Parliament as well as by a new Government,"
Arseniy Yatsenyuk summed up.
