A geographical information system (GIS) called ELECTIONS 2014 is the modern tool enabling each citizen to control the work of the militia, and the situation related to crimes in each particular area, town or village.

The system is available through the Government web portal and the official website of the Ministry of Interior.

Throughout the period remaining till the snap elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which is due on October 26, the system will provide information for the Ministry of Internal Affairs from all over Ukraine, in particular information about certain offences connected with the electoral process.

The system is comprised of the following:

- an electronic map of Ukraine with the constituencies on it;

- categories of reports on offences divided into those with the signs of administrative violations; those having features of a crime (pre-qualification); and those in the process of consideration;

- registered reports concerning violations, those received from citizens and marked on the map;

- reference information about the articles of the administrative and criminal codes concerning violations of the electoral process.

In particular, this tool will allow reduction of the conscious data manipulation, or distortion of information by certain media and public organizations, which often occurs in the absence of the transparent access to the official statistics.
