PM believes amendments to law on medicines introduce European procedure for registration of medicines and to provide Ukrainians with vaccines
On Monday, October 20, the Verkhovna Rada
of Ukraine has adopted the Government's draft
law "On amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Medicines"
turnover and state control over quality of medicines imported to the customs
territory of Ukraine (№4459a).
During the discussion of
the bill in the Parliament, Prime Minister
of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said
that this bill introduces a
European procedure for the registration of
medicines: "We ask to make a fully European
system, and sell European medicines on Ukrainian market without
bribery and at a lower price."
"Those who object to the simplification of procedure are those who advocate
further bribery for each registration
certificate," the Prime Minister
underlined.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk reported that due to this
bill 509,000 people would have
access to vaccines against tuberculosis: This
vaccine is enough till September and October 2015."
He recalled that the Government had decided to
dismiss the Minister of Health "for a
complete failure and corruption in the Ministry of
Health that didn’t provide with medication
and drugs and for prices, which
continue rising."
Twenty days after the
dismissal of the Health Minister, according to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, in general a
total amount of medication and drugs equals
UAH 1.7 billion.
The Parliament has also approved the Law
"On approving the National Target Social Programme
on Combating HIV/AIDS for 2014-2018" (№4384a).
"The adoption of this program allows us to buy medicines for children infected with HIV / AIDS, to immediately start retroviral assistance for these people and get about UAH 1.2 billion from the Global Fund," Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed.
