Volodymyr Groysman: Peace will be restored, we shall resume normal life very quickly and qualitatively

The Ukrainian Government is ready to hold restoration activities in the settlements of the East, the infrastructure of which was destroyed by terrorists. However, in order to carry out such work, to hold winter preparation activities, to address social issues - first of all it is necessary to restore the Ukrainian authorities in this area. This was said by Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Volodymyr Groysman in the program "Facts of the week" on ICTV channel.

According to him, clear steps how to restore peace are stipulated for in the Peace Plan of the President of Ukraine, an important element of which is the Law "On the special order of the local government in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions".

"This law can play a significant role in the restoration of peace: election of the local authority in compliance with the applicable laws, in whom the people trust and only then we can resume a dialogue in order to reintegrate these areas, in order to socially adapt the people who live there," said Volodymyr Groysman.

He also added that today, in the areas "where there is the Ukrainian flag, the Government can ensure payment of all social benefits".

As for the rebuilding of the infrastructure, the most significant prerequisite for this is ceasefire and international partners also stick to this position, according to Volodymyr Groysman.

Vice Prime Minister informed that the Government, together with the mission of the United Nations, the European Union and the World Bank had developed a clear interaction plan: support for IDPs, humanitarian response and recovery plan for Donbas.

“I have recently returned from Brussels. We were talking about the plan of reconstruction of the country, which is a part of "Strategy 2020", presented by the President of Ukraine, and about a separate plan the program of Recovery of Donbas. I want to assure you: peace will be restored, we shall resume normal life very quickly and qualitatively. We won’t just rebuild everything that was destroyed, but resume normal life. As people in Donbas had hardly known what means normal life," said Volodymyr Groysman
