Arseniy Yatsenyuk: Ukraine has two aggressors: an external one - Russia, and internal - corruption and irresponsibility. We need unity to win
"We have two aggressors. The first external is the Russian
Federation. And the second aggressor is inside: corruption, disorder,
irresponsibility, lack of proper organization. Having overcome these two
aggressors, we will be able to win," said the Prime Minister of Ukraine
Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a Government session on Wednesday, 10 September, with
participation of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko,
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, the heads of regional state administrations and
Kyiv city.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized
that to gain victory we need unity: "No matter how hard it is – all of us united,
despite the different political preferences and even despite the electoral
process. We are talking about the fate of the country, and not about the number
of seats in Parliament".
Moreover, the Head
of Government emphasized that the military system of Ukraine is
"nothing but the former Soviet Ministry of Defense”: "Without
radical changes in the system dozens
billions [hryvnyas- ed.] can be sent there and it is all in vain. And for that, we need to get not just weapons, but also experts who are capable to change quality logistics of military organization".
Another issue, which,
according to Arseniy Yatseniuk, is
vital to be discussed, is “the Mannerheim
line or the Wall
project”: "It means fortifications, which should be built quickly and cost cheap".
The third issue, pointed out the Head of
Government, concerns the national
economy: "The Economy is in a state of war. We can submit dozens of laws to the Parliament, hundreds of normative-legal acts, we have prepared
reforms, but no investor will
come to the country, if the country is flooded with the Russian troops, tanks, "Grads",
machine guns and saboteurs".
"Unless we solve the issue of stopping the war, sending Russian troops to the deployment bases - let them protect Putin - and regaining control over the border, no reform will be carried out in the territory of Ukraine. As the war is the major factor. The country needs peace and we must do everything to achieve it," - said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
The Prime Minister informed that
the agenda of today's Government session contains several hot issues, the top
priority one is defense of the state. The assembly
will hear the report of the Chairman of the State Border Service concerning
development of the Ukrainian-Russian border, as well as the Chairman of the
State Service of Ukraine for Emergency - on measures of civil protection of
citizens of Ukraine.
