MFA statement on imposing extra sanctions against the RF
A decision taken by the EU to
impose sanctions which will affect a number of Russian economy sectors has
proved the European Union realizes the scale of the crimes that are committed
with support and direct participation of Russia by rebels in Donetsk and Luhansk
regions of Ukraine.
|
Another significant
decision was to introduce restrictions on trade and investments into
temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and to include into the
list of sanctions persons close to the leaders of Russia, who provide
material or financial support to the actions directed to annexation of Crimea
or destabilizing the situation in Donbas. Ukraine states gratitude to
the EU and other States, including the USA, Canada, Japan that demonstrated
solidarity with the Ukrainian people and through introducing additional
sanctions against the Russian Federation make contribution into resuming
peace and stability within the state and the region. We anticipate that the
European Union and our international partners will be ready to further
activate and coordinate the efforts targeting to prevent export of
aggression, violence and terrorism from the Russian Federation. We call on the entire
civilized world to engage into making steps with an aim to cease provoked by
the Russian side bloodshed and encroachment on the sovereignty and
territorial integrity of Ukraine. The approved decisions to
take extra restriction measures appear a distinct signal for the Russian
Federation. Disregard of the principles of international law, annexation of
the sovereign territory of our country, export of violence and terrorism will
never remain aside response of the global community. Further aggressive
policy towards Ukraine and the entire civilized world will lead to deeper
international isolation of Russia. We expect from the Russian
Federation not hollow statements but responsible actions to support the
Peaceful plan of the President of Ukraine, Geneva and Berlin understandings
directed to settlement of the situation in Donbas. |
