Arseniy Yatsenyuk: Ukraine has passed the stage of resuscitation. It is time to proceed to rehabilitation

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk commissioned the Government’s members to submit their vision of “a rehabilitation package” for each separate branch and considers necessary to establish Vice Prime Minister for European integration. The Head of Government said during a session of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, June 25. 

Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized that Ukraine has passed “the stage of resuscitation” – the first stage which afforded to avoid default: “Now we should proceed to rehabilitation – both economic and political”.

He highlighted the hardship Ukraine faces: “Billions, which were not envisaged in the budget, are paid to ensure territorial integrity of Ukrainian state. We were engaged in a real open war of a new type. It is the true war – they shoot, kill, terrorize, destroy, intimidate. They are making recurrent attempts to destroy Ukrainian state and Ukrainian independence. We are at media war – inside the country and behind its boundaries, with billions of funds spent by the Russian side. We are subjected to economic war when they groundlessly declare they will close the markets”.

“So, responsibility is my key demand to the Government and chiefs of local administrations. Only through responsibility you can gain confidence of our people. And only having confidence of people we can carry out reforms. As a reform means energy of millions [of people] directed to achievement the goal, but not the text written by official,” the Head of Government stressed.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded deputy minister for European integration will be established in each separate ministry. The post has been advertised already.  

Moreover, the Head of Government emphasized he views as necessary to establish Vice Prime Minister for European integration within the Cabinet of Ministers, a person who chairs the department of integration with the EU.
