Government ready through public technical consultations to discuss how European quality of commodities poses threat to the RF
“Statements of the
leadership of Russia on closing of the Russian market for Ukrainian origin
goods, in case Ukraine signs the economic section of the Agreement with the European
Union, have no economic grounds,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk
emphasized during a session of the Government on Wednesday, June 25.
“As always, Russia nervously
reacts to European integration of Ukraine,” he said.
The Head of
Government reminded the position of Russia in 2005 when Ukraine was entering the
World Trade Organization: “The same phrases, the same quotations were heard
from the Russian side – all for not affording Ukraine to enter the World Trade
Organization. At this, Russia itself was running a race targeting to be the first
to achieve the WTO membership”.
“In order to remove
all reservations in this issue we are ready to hold public technical
consultations on implementation of the Agreement. Let afford the Russians to
tell what are their risks,” he emphasized.
“We wish to
understand how European quality of goods threatens our northern neighbours. In fact,
there are European goods on their shelves and European cars also travel along
their roads,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.
The Head of Government urged the need to prepare by Ukraine “certain
measures to adequately response to any possible attempts of the Russian
Federation to violate the Free Trade Area Agreement between Ukraine and the CIS”.
