Ukrainian side claims USD 6 bn from Russia in Stockholm Court
Naftogaz Ukrainy will claim for
compensation worth USD 6 billion for overpaid Russian gas. The Prime Minister
of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, June
17.
The Head of
Government commenced his statement with the words he had several news items: “A
bad one – Russia has completely terminated gas deliveries to Ukraine. Good news
is it is summer, we have 14 billion cubic meters of gas and we have filed a
claim against Russian Gazprom”.

Arseniy
Yatsenyuk explained since 2009 Ukraine had paid to Russian Gazprom USD 50 billion: “Ukraine is the third largest
market of Gazprom. Germany and Turkey are ahead.
Overall from 2009 Ukraine has paid off to Russian Gazprom,
taking into account payments of Naftogaz and a real
economy sector the sum of USD 50 billion. All these tales of our Russian
neighbors, therefore, that they help us are far from the truth. We should
gain an insight into the situation”. “We have paid USD 50
billion from the pockets of Ukrainian citizens, from the pockets of our
companies. We consider this number contains overcharges, so we will demand
this overpaid sum from the Russian Gazprom,” the PM
said. |
