headquarters is chaired by the Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional
Development, Building, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Volodymyr
Hroysman. Deputy chairman is Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yurii Prodan. “The missions of the
headquarters include balancing energy resources, balancing of consumption,
balancing of expenses and energy efficiency,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed. “We can never
abandon addiction from Russian gas, if we waste energy resources the way we
have been spending them for over 20 years. We will pay to Russia USD 50
billion again throughout the following five years and can never achieve what
we are striving to achieve – true energy performance,” the Head of Government
emphasized. Therefrom, the goal of the Government, according to
him, is reduction in consumption: “The less people and enterprises consume,
the less they pay”. Moreover, Arseniy
Yatsenyuk informed that the Government would consider at its session on June
18 a draft law on emergency state in energy sector: “We must be prepared to
the most complicated conditions. In this regard the procedure of introducing
emergency state on energy market, controlling mechanisms, energy efficiency
mechanisms should be included into the law, so that the Government could have
leverage on energy sector of the country”.
