Ostap Semerak informed the IMF representatives of the results of Government's three-month work

Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Ostap Semerak held a working meeting with the International Monetary Fund Mission, which arrived in Ukraine.

According to IMF Mission Head Mr. Ceda Ogada, the IMF Mission is most interested in three key spheres of activity of the Government: anti-corruption measures, judicial reform, improving of investment business climate.

In his turn, Ostap Semerak stressed the importance of cooperation with the IMF in connection with the reforms that the Government has declared as its road map.

According to the official, tackling corruption is one of the priorities in the work of the Government. "Personally for me as a politician, it is the main purpose," Ostap Semerak underlined.

The Minister reiterated the IMF Mission that the Ukrainian Parliament recently passed a law that applies to strengthen the fight against corruption. In the near future it should be signed by the Acting President.

The Parliament also registered a number of bills on the creation of a special national body that has to deal with corruption offenses.

On the initiative of the Government, have been adopted several bills that simplify the procedure of doing business in Ukraine.

Ostap Semerak recalled that on 27 May expired the current Government’s three-month work. "However, we managed to do a lot. Unfortunately, not all laws, which we had submitted to the Parliament, came into force, because of technical procedures that they have to pass through," said the official.

Ostap Semerak said that the Government is interested in attracting wide public attention to development of draft laws and other legal documents. On the initiative of the Secretariat of the Cabinet, the review term of the documents in the Government has been decreased from 193 days to 45.

All resolutions submitted for discussion at a Cabinet meeting, said Ostap Semerak, go through governmental committees with the involvement of public experts as well as MPs.

The Minister also noted that the Reforms Support Center is functioning in the Cabinet of Ministers. "It's also one of the elements of our new policy as to public involvement in developing reforms which Ukraine needs", he emphasized.
