Olexandr Sych: Ukraine has to maintain cooperation with Japan in humanitarian area

Ukraine has to activate relations with Japan. Our country views as valuable the experience of Japan in rebuilding of statehood and economy that were ruined after the Second World War. The Vice Prime Minister Olexandr Sych announced during a meeting with Okabe Yoshihiko, Japanese scientist, public figure, Ukrainian history expert, organizer of a series of Ukrainian-Japanese culture and economic forums.

In turn Okabe Yoshihiko emphasized that Ukraine and Japan could be strategic partners. “Nowadays, influenced by the Russian media Japan has somewhat distorted vision of events in Ukraine. Hence, it is necessary to maintain a broad culture dialog, interaction in information, education areas,” he added.

The Vice Prime Minister expressed intention to provide overall assistance in the direction of maintaining contacts between Japanese and Ukrainian higher educational institutions and Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation in general. “In humanitarian area we have a wide field for the exchange of experience, hence a tool of Japanese breakthrough were science and technologies, while its fundamental basis were the national culture and identity,” Olexandr Sych summed up.
