Ukraine has received good conditions for liberalization of trade in agricultural products with the EU. In particular, according to tariff proposals, the EU after the entry into force of the Agreement immediately cancels import duty for 83% of agricultural products, for 15% it establishes quotas with a zero rate of duty. This was reported today by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Trade Igor Shvaika, speaking at the panel discussion “Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area: ready for signing” in the framework of the international conference "The new European Policy: from words to action".

Analyzing the parameters of functioning of the FTA, Igor Schweich informed that Ukraine immediately liberalize trade only for 35% of tariff lines, for 3% (most sensitive) the country establishes quotas, on the other - to reduce duties during transition periods.

"Moving to the analysis of quotas, which Ukraine received for the export of its products to the EU, I note that we now see a promising position of Ukraine. This is the export of wheat, corn, barley, poultry, pork and beef. We forecast that the quotas will be completed already in the first year of entry into force of the Agreement," the Minister stressed.

Igor Shvaika also noted: "Due to the fact that import duty rates will be set to nil ability of confectionery industry of Ukraine to increase export of its products to EU countries prospectively looks. Products of sugar, starch and syrup industries have also good prospects."
