Ukrainian railways are preparing orders for domestic manufacturers of rolling stock
The railway stock is
planned to be enlarged with 11 850 new freight cars of Ukrainian production for
two years. To determine the capabilities of the enterprises-manufacturers the Minister
of infrastructure Maksym Burbak
and Director General of the State Administration of Railway Transport (Ukrzaliznytsia) Borys Ostapuk held a meeting with representatives of domestic
companies that are produced rolling stock and other railway vehicles and
equipment on May 14.
Maksym Burbak stressed that this year it is planned to ensure the
creation of appropriate conditions for the purchasing of 2 800 gondola cars and
2 400 grain cars, and next year - 3 650 gondola cars and 3 000 grain cars to
the Ukrainian railways. In addition, in 2014 year funds also will be directed
on modernization of a track, locomotives and electric locomotives, the purchase
of track machinery.
In general, as the
Minister of infrastructure noted, for modernization and renovation of rolling
stock is planned to attract under the state guarantee UAH 12.5 billion.
