Liudmyla Denisova: Almost 90% war veterans have received payments by the Victory Day
Almost
90% war veterans have received material assistance dedicated to the Victory
Day. Minister of Social Policy Liudmyla Denisova informed during a briefing.
In particular,
the Minister explained overall sum to pay one-time financial assistance for the
war veterans and victims of Nazi persecution amounts UAH 819 million. Besides, according
to her, as of May 5, 94.4% (UAH 775.9 million) of the funds have been
transferred to regional social protection departments.

“The
post offices and banks have been provided with over 90% funding to pay
one-time monetary aid till May 5. In cash equivalent it makes up UAH 754.1
million,” Liudmyla Denisova
stressed. Moreover,
the Minister added by now 90% war veterans had received the money already. “At
this, unfortunately, we cannot make relevant payments for all the veterans
residing in Crimea, who are on the occupied territory, though the funds for
these aims in the sum of UAH 43 million are on the accounts of the Ministry of
Social Policy,” Liudmyla Denisova
said. She also stressed that the state is ready to provide one-time monetary assistance
to all the veterans of Crimea only on the mainland part of Ukraine. Moreover,
Liudmyla Denisova
stressed in the current year I group war invalids would obtain one-time
assistance amounting UAH 2 575, which is by UAH 160 higher against 2013.
Thus, she said the size of such payments for all war veterans and victims of
Nazi persecution has grown by 7% in average. The Minister
noted that presently there reside 1.6 million persons in Ukraine for whom
such payment has been allotted, notably 170 thousand persons – war invalids,
207 thousand persons – participants of military actions, 0.9 million war
participants and also 281.3 thousand members of families of those war
veterans who died. |
