Victory Day to be celebrated at state level
Victory Day is to
be celebrated at the state level. The Cabinet of Ministers decree from
30.04.2014 № 447 -r (30.04.2014 №447-р) has approved a plan on the preparation and
celebration of the 69th anniversary of Victory Day in this year.
In particular, on
May 7 in Kyiv gala events and the concert will be held in the Memorial complex
«The National Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945". On 8 May in
Kyiv will take place the cultural event “The first minute of peace” with the participation of students and
the public in the Park of Eternal Glory.
On May 9
across the country will take place a laying of flowers to the monuments and
memorials in order to commemorate those who fought the Great Victory as well as
the laying flowers ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Park of
Eternal Glory in Kyiv.
On the same day
on Sofia Square in Kyiv religious organizations will hold a public prayer for
victims of the Second World War.
The program
also schedules meetings with war veterans and representatives of public
associations of veterans in secondary, vocational and higher educational
establishments, thematic exhibitions devoted to the heroism of the Ukrainian
people during the war, etc.
Special
attention will be paid to strengthening the social protection of veterans.
In addition, May
9 provides sporting events and youth activities aimed at ensuring the unity of
the state and the consolidation of society.
