"Our demand
remains the same: Crimea is a territory
of Ukraine. Our property is
stolen. This is our region, our Yalta,
our sea, our territory. We will together with the international community continue
to bring back step by step the region as in political, diplomatic sense, as we have
done in the United Nations," the Prime Minister of Ukraine A. Yatsenyuk said on Friday, April 18, during an Hour of
questions to the Government in the Parliament.
He recalled the only
one country banned the decision of the Security Council of the United Nations
concerning the Crimea – it is the Russian Federation. 100 UN member
states voted in favor of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and for the support of Ukraine and Crimea as part of Ukraine in the General Assembly of
the United Nations. This is a majority of the entire United Nations composition.
Prime Minister recalled that the decision on Georgia was voted for by only 48
countries.
"We have to be
honest and frank – we can not tomorrow morning to decide the issue of Crimea. But we have to be sure - even in our lifetime the
modern Ukrainian history writes that those who seized Crimea,
will apologize to the Ukrainian people, and Crimea
has been and will be Ukrainian territory. This is our land, our territory and
we will fight for it," Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.
The Prime Minister noted
that the Government "has no excessive expectations"
about the statement adopted yesterday in Geneva during
the quadripartite talks in the format - Ukraine,
USA, EU and Russia.
At the same time, he
said, Russia was forced to
sign a statement and condemn extremism, which actually is supported by the Russian Federation.
By signing this statement, the Russian side is actually applied to the
"peaceful protesters" with Kalashnikovs and MANPADs
with the requirement to immediately disarm and hand over their weapons. "
Regarding the position
on Crimea, as the Prime Minister stressed, three of the four participants of
the Geneva meeting clearly stated: "No one,
under any circumstances, does recognize the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation."
