“The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine can play a fundamental role in the modernization of Ukrainian society”, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksander Sych said at a general meeting of the NAS of Ukraine on April 3.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the process of completing the transformation of the post-Soviet Ukrainian science confronts the urgent and complex tasks. "Science cannot provide an innovative splash of the economy without upgrading of any and all areas of public relations. It is useless to expect sustainable progress in the economic sphere without systemic responses to global humanitarian challenges - particularly with respect to ideal models of government, form of government, inter-ethnic communication, etc.", the official noted.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, progress in this area directly depends on the effective cooperation between the government and science. "A high potential of the Ukrainian science, capable of making the state one of the world leaders, can be discovered only through joint effort of the government and the NASU," concluded Oleksander Sych.
