Government asks VR to vote for appeal to Budapest memorandum guarantor countries to guarantee protection

Arsenii Yatseniuk stressed these days we were facing the most dramatic and complicated conflict on the territory of Europe of the XXI century: “It is not a bilateral conflict. It is nothing else but the actions of the Russian Federation directed to undermining of the global security”.

According to the Prime Minister, the military conflict and military aggression of Russia on Ukraine’s territory means “the country that got willingly rid of nuclear weapon, abandoned its nuclear status and received guarantees from the leading world countries, has remained unprotected, stayed face to face with the armed cap-a-pie country, having the nuclear status”.

“Our country has been affected by military aggression. Those who guaranteed there wouldn’t be such aggression on the one side must remove the troops and on the other – must protect the independent sovereign state. It is the demand of the country,” Arsenii Yatseniuk emphasized.

“The Ukrainian Government is addressing the Parliament to vote with the Constitutional majority for issuing an appeal to Budapest memorandum guarantor countries in order to reach implementation of the guarantees rendered to the Ukrainian state after abandoning the nuclear weapon,” he stressed.   

Arsenii Yatseniuk addressed western partners: “Unless you ensure guarantees signed in the Budapest memorandum, how will you persuade Iran or North Korea to get rid of their nuclear state status, if the world fails to ensure relevant guarantees?”
