Yuriy Boyko arrives to Donetsk region to investigate an accident at the Pivnichna mine of Makiyivvuhillya

On February 18, 2014, a Governmental commission led by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko, which was set up on commission of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, arrived to Donetsk region aiming to investigate the reasons of an accident of the Pivnichna mine of Makiyivvuhillya company and render necessary aid to families of the dead and the victims.

According to the data, as of 8:00 a.m., on February 18, 2014, in the result of methane blast seven miners were killed and nine others were taken to medical facilities of Donetsk and Makiyivka.

One person in serious condition was taken to Donetsk regional territorial medical association. The state of others is moderately severe: three persons are staying in regional burn center, five – in local hospital № 1 in Makiyivka.

The blast on the Pivnichna mine of the Makiyivvuhillya occurred at 8:47 p.m. on February 17, 2014. At the moment of the accident there stayed 88 miners in the mine.
