One third of the Olympic sportsmen who will compete for Ukraine at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi are trained by the all-Ukrainian physical and sports association Kolos (spike) of the agrarian complex of Ukraine. They will compete in the following sports: biathlon, tobogganing, freestyle and ski races. And targeting to develop Kolos club network and the sports movement in the rural area UAH 9.2 million will be allotted from the state budget this year. The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhniuk informed.

“We are proud that one third of the Olympic sportsmen who are to compete for Ukraine during the Winter Olympiad in Sochi are the sportsmen trained in our Kolos. They will represent our country in the following kinds of sports: biathlon, tobogganing, freestyle and ski races. We express our support to them and believe that Kolos representatives will definitely obtain victory not once,” the Minister stressed.

The head of the department reminded that during the Summer Olympiad in London 5 sportsmen from Kolos had climbed the winning pedestal.

“We hope that this year in Sochi the anthem of Ukraine will be heard not once to honour trainees of the Kolos sports clubs. And millions of young people who live in villages will follow their example. Hence, aiming to ensure future development of the sports movement in rural areas the state budget for 2014 contains UAH 9.2 million directed to support the Kolos sports bases and holding of sports events among the rural population,” Mykola Prysyazhniuk noted.
