The activities
to restore traffic on motor roads which was restricted as a result of severe
snow drifts and sleet are being held in an intensive mode. Presently the traffic
remains complicated on two sections of highways in Donetsk region only. The communication
with the inhabited localities is ensured for private and social transport,
while the traffic of heavy transport is suspended in connection with clean-up
activities. “Now it
has become warmer but in the regions, because of temperature fluctuations
from 9 degrees below zero Celsius at night to 7 degrees above zero Celsius at
day around 5.3 thousand, warming stations continue operation. In the future
their number will depend on weather conditions but they will continue work while
they are in need. We have to ensure protection of people from cold and hard
weather conditions,” Olexandr Vilkul said. Moreover,
in the regions 1226 social patrol brigades containing rescuers, medical
workers and volunteers secured the 24-hour duty. They render assistance to
the people and if needed take them to the warming stations or medical
institutions. Owing to this from the start of severe frosts all around
Ukraine over 64 thousand people have been rendered aid and saved from hypothermia.
Targeting
to ensure sustainable work of life support systems and liquidation of the consequences
of bad weather in the inhabited localities in the regions 2.6 thousand municipal
machinery units operate and over 14.7 thousand tons of sand-salt mixture is
used daily. |
