O. Vilkul: Power supply completely resumed in Kherson region

Throughout last 24 hours owing to the intensified work of power engineers the power supply has been restored in another 22 inhabited localities, including the repair activities that have been completely finished in Kherson region. Now the works are on in 25 inhabited localities of the two regions – Mykolayiv and Odessa. To take part in the repair activities in the mentioned regions there were involved 146 power engineer brigades with 784 workers and 287 special machinery units. Everything possible is being done to faster resume electricity to the people, including at the account of relocation of the repair brigades and machinery from other regions. The Vice Prime Minister Olexandr Vilkul stressed.

The activities to restore traffic on motor roads which was restricted as a result of severe snow drifts and sleet are being held in an intensive mode. Presently the traffic remains complicated on two sections of highways in Donetsk region only. The communication with the inhabited localities is ensured for private and social transport, while the traffic of heavy transport is suspended in connection with clean-up activities.  

“Now it has become warmer but in the regions, because of temperature fluctuations from 9 degrees below zero Celsius at night to 7 degrees above zero Celsius at day around 5.3 thousand, warming stations continue operation. In the future their number will depend on weather conditions but they will continue work while they are in need. We have to ensure protection of people from cold and hard weather conditions,” Olexandr Vilkul said.

Moreover, in the regions 1226 social patrol brigades containing rescuers, medical workers and volunteers secured the 24-hour duty. They render assistance to the people and if needed take them to the warming stations or medical institutions. Owing to this from the start of severe frosts all around Ukraine over 64 thousand people have been rendered aid and saved from hypothermia.  

Targeting to ensure sustainable work of life support systems and liquidation of the consequences of bad weather in the inhabited localities in the regions 2.6 thousand municipal machinery units operate and over 14.7 thousand tons of sand-salt mixture is used daily.
