Prime Minister: Victims are on the conscience and within responsibility of the organizers and certain participants of mass unrest

The victims that, to the great regret, appeared as a result of confrontations in the centre of the capital are on the conscience and within responsibility of the organizers and certain participants of the mass riots. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov announced during the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on January 22, 2014.

Mykola Azarov noted that on the holy day of the Christening the part of Maidan, that had long balanced on the edge of peaceful protests, overstepped this line and the line of moral principles in whole. The organized far-right militants and radical part of the Maidan’s participants made riots in the center of Kyiv. Attacks on law enforcement officers with the use of cold weapon and incendiaries, burning cars and buildings, terror and forays, illegal capturing people, mob rule, provocations are the arsenal of their actions, the whole world has seen.

“Cynicism and amorality of the terrorists have grown into throwing Molotov cocktails into people and young boys – also our children – who burn in fires! Everyone saw the video, the whole world saw it,” the Prime Minister noted.

At this, he informed that night the terrorists from Maidan had broken into hotels, seized dozens citizens whom they consider their opponents and beat them violently.

“In such a way they threaten life of every citizen by determining enemies at their own discretion. The participants of these unrests could not be named peaceful protesters and demonstrators. They are criminals who must answer for their actions,” the Head of the Government said. “As the Prime Minister of Ukraine I officially declare that the victims, that we unfortunately have, will be on the consciousness and within responsibility of the organizers and certain participants of mass unrest. I demand the law enforcement bodies to thoroughly and actively investigate the crimes, and the most important is to spare no effort to avoid them in the future”.

At the same time, the Prime Minister stressed the accusations towards law enforcement bodies were groundless, as those standing in Hrushevskoho street didn’t have the armor.

To the conviction of the Prime Minister the consequences of the events on European square were within direct responsibility of the so-called opposition who had called all the time to destabilize the situation in Ukraine.

At the same time the Head of the Government expressed compassion to the families of the victims who suffered from provocations and mass unrests and called on people not to yield to provocations.
